Description :

It's an action-rpg. At the beginning, you choose your character, warrior, sorceror or rogue. These characters can use different weapons, spells and equipment. The game starts in a town, where you can buy new stuff for your hero / heroine. You also get certain quests from the inhabitants there. Now you continue your way down to one of the 16 randomly created dungeon levels. There are loads of monsters to kill, after you have gained a certain number of experience points you can upgrade your skills. You find money which you can use to buy new weapons or scrolls or book etc. in town. The game features a great range of monsters, from simple skeletons to Diablo himself.

Description:
Hellfire is an add-on to the action RPG Diablo.

It adds two new dungeons to the game: the Demon Crypt and the Festering Nest, both crawling with all-new creatures. The Nest has the appearance of an insect hive and is populated with insectoid monsters and a boss creature called the Defiler. The Crypt is controlled by the demon Na-Krul, a former lieutenant of Diablo who turned on his master and now works on his own.

To master the challenges of the new dungeons, a new character class is available: the Monk can use staff weapons to attack several enemies at the same time and also is an expert at unarmed combat as well as an able spellcaster.

Also added are new spells, items and weapons. New magical items include oils (once applied, they add magical effects to weapons) and runes (they can be set on the ground as booby traps, unleashing magical effects on unsuspecting monsters).

Installation
The Mod package almost always exists of an executable and some documentation.
To install the Mod, just unzip the contents in your Diablo directory. If the executable has the same name as the original Diablo executable ('diablo.exe'), you can rename 'diablo.exe' to for example: 'diablo-old.exe'. To play a normal game of Diablo just run 'diablo-old.exe'.


Varaya & Khan's

This is the first and best Mod ever. Several new monsters are added, as well as their unique leaders. New basic items and spells are available, and there are lots of unique items. Various items can only be used by a specific character class. With each new update V&K is getting even better.

Abysmal

This Mod features many new monsters plus leaders, as well as new basic items and lots of new unique items. There are also new prefixes and suffixes for items and new spells.

Diablo Ultra

This Mod is entirely in german. Most normal monsters and all unique leaders are replaced with new ones. There are new basic items and prefixes and suffixes. All the unique items are replaced and there are several new spells.

Hellspawned

This Mod is promising. It features new normal monsters and all unique leaders are replaced. Diablo has been renamed to Rob . Most unique items are replaced with new ones. Several new spells are included as well.
Netherworld

A good mod. Most monster and slmost all unique have been changed. There are new prefixes and suffixes as well.
Dragonlance

Another good Mod. It has most things a good Mod needs.

Retribution

A lot of monsters and all of their unique leaders are replaced in this Mod. There are several new unique items to be found. I was under the impression that Charlie was inspired a little by Tolkien.

The Sin War

The author's goal is to change only the unique items. As far as I've seen these uniques are designed well and are really worth finding.

Fire Dragon

This Mod has a few new prefixes and suffixes. There are a few new unique items and lots of new very powerful and useful spells. The character classes are slightly modified and renamed. All the monsters are still the same. IMO there are still a few thing that need improvement, as well as a bit of bug fixing. 

Ozzman's

No new monsters in this Mod. What is does have is new basic items, prefixes and suffixes and unique items. I think it still needs a lot of work.

Phantasmagoria

There are a few new basic items and prefixes and suffixes. There are no new normal or unique monsters and way too less unique items. Another disappointment.

Vanity

Development of this Mod has stopped. It only has a few renamed monsters and unique leaders. Nothing more. Don't waste your time on this one.

Description:

"...There's something dark within me now ..."

Knowing full well that Diablo's spirit could never be truly destroyed, you made the noblest sacrifice of all, you took the spirit of Diablo into yourself, hoping that your own strength of will would contain the demon within. You could never have known that your selfless act would not only ensure Diablo's victory, but would irrevocably damn your soul for all time.

Now it's time for extending the story. You can pick among five characters to play: Amazon, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorceress and Barbarian, from which every posses unique abilities.

Like its predecessor, Diablo II is an action RPG. Most of the gameplay is dedicated to roaming wilderness areas and fighting hordes of monsters in real-time combat, gathering experience points. Dungeon layout and items are randomized in this game.
